Good for Flaxseed
I use this mill for flaxseed. It does a good job of grinding the flaxseed into a "meal" consistency, not as fine as flour, but fine enough for my purposes. The ground flaxseed is undetectable when I stir it into my oatmeal. I even put it on top of pancakes, and it doesn't seem gritty.

I like that the mill has no metal parts that could corrode. The container is attractive glass, and the top is plastic with a ceramic mill. So far, it's easy to clean and easy to use. I also like the mill-on-top design and the fact that it has a cap. However, if you were to get some stubborn food stuck in the mill part, it may not be easy to clean it out.

Here's what I don't like about it: It takes a few moments to find the little niche to pry the cap off, and then the cap is unattached and could potentially get lost. Also, when it comes to grinding flaxseed, I want at least a teaspoon, not just a little spray. I typically count 100 twists each morning when I grind the seed. This makes my wrist tired. A device with a crank handle would probably be easier on the wrist, but I think I would still prefer this Kyocera mill for its compact size and convenience.

All in all, this was a good purchase for flaxseed. Despite the minor downsides, I'm still giving it 5 stars.

Fine Pepper
I wanted something that would grate pepper to a find powder, this does the job well! We don't like that it has a separate cap to keep up with, but other than that, I'm pleased with it. I also liked that it came with the option to buy a white one.. if we want to buy a matching salt shaker, but frankly, I have enough salt shakers at the moment.

Save your money!
I've owned several of these grinders for a couple of years now; out of the 8 I bought, I have 3 that are still in one piece. The problems? The rotating grinder heads have all broken laterally. They also have a quality control problem in that the same sized grinding heads do not grind the same. In short, a good idea with third-rate manufacturing materials holding the ceramic.

Not good for Celtic Sea Salt
This grinder does not work on unprocessed Celtic Sea Salt.
It works no better/no worse than other grinders on pepper.

I would rate this 10 stars if I could!
I've used a Unicorn peppermill for several years, but never liked that you had to set it back on the bottom dish or get pepper all over the table. Plus, it didn't really produce a nice grind of pepper. Then I ordered some Celtic Sea Salt and realized I would need a grinder for it (chunks of salt on my food isn't too appealing). After much research, I decided on a pair of Kyocera fine mills--black for pepper, white for sea salt.

I absolutely LOVE everything about these mills!!! The cap keeps the pepper and salt free of dust, moisture, etc. and removes easily to use the mill. It's so nice to simply turn the mill upside down and twist, then turn upright and put down anywhere on the table without a mess. Since the GLASS jars are clear with a design you can see how much salt or pepper remains in the jar--no guessing if you need to refill. The fact that I could order one in black and one in white makes it simple for anyone to know what is in which jar. But the BEST thing about these mills is the way they grind. My pepper is a perfect grind--bigger than store bought ground pepper but not huge chunks that overpower food and get stuck in my teeth. And the salt--oh my! It produces the most perfect flakes that dissolve on my steak, veggies, etc. After using freshly ground Celtic Sea Salt I will never go back to table salt or even kosher salt.

I am so glad I read the reviews and purchased these--and would recommend them to everyone for an enjoyable dining experience!
